appearance
Thankfully for Shin, the destruction caused by the bombs, while it certainly changed him. Only affected his appearance in one way, and that being his hair. Once a plain white, now a brilliant silver, which he's gotten rather fond of and while he isn't a vain person. He's thankful that one part of him at least remained mostly like his old self. Even so, very few would call this man's appearance "normal" by any means. His imposing tall figure doesn't help either, standing at a height of six foot two inches (6'2'), he tends to tower over most people by quite a bit. Besides that height, he has a rather thin build, lithe and swift but don't let that fool you. Years of training kendo and various other combat sword styles has left him with far more strength and stamina than other's assumes.
The one thing that tends to bother everyone more than anything else, is his general expression. Always smiling and never faltering, like a Cheshire chat, although he has more often than not been likened to that of a fox when back home. That smile keeping what appears to others as having his eyes almost fully closed constantly and while plenty have asked if he can actually see, he can. Perfectly fine actually and it is through choice that he does this, always hiding his eyes from view from the rest of the world and it is as a result. That no one has any idea as to what his eye color actually is, many have guessed randomly. No one has ever got it right. And that is how Shin wants it to stay, forever hopefully.

abilities
Esper - (ESP - Extra Sensory Perception):
When the bombs fell at first, Shin seemed rather unaffected, as if he were perfectly normal. Then things began to change. He realised he could do things. Random things just with a mere thought and the longer he tested his limits. The more he discovered he was capable of. Of course everything has it's limits and Shin knows his far better than most. And as such, he sticks with what he can do, without using these extraordinary powers as much as is humanly possible. But then again, just how many of those still living can truly call themselves human anymore? Who knows. But if anyone asks, Shin would define himself as an Esper, well, he's definitely not human anymore that's for sure.
Teleportation - Offensive/Defensive, High Control -
With powers comes this rather nifty ability, gifting Shin the power to teleport both short and long distances. To do this he merely needs to concentrate ever so briefly, the thought process taking less than a second before he's moved. He does need to have a general view in mind of where he wishes to go. Otherwise, he could end up quite literally anywhere... and almost stuck in a wall if he's not careful. He can teleport others with him, up to a maximum of three others at a time, however this can lessen or increase depending on weight or if these people are adults or children. The maximum distance he can travel anywhere is up to three miles, no more.
- Teleportation (With Limiter) - Medium Control
With the limiter active, Shin can only travel a distance of up to a quarter and is only able to teleport one other person be they adult or child at a time.
Psychokinesis - Offensive/Defensive, Absolute Control -
With any 'esper' there has always known to be some form of mental ability gifted to the user and this, would be Shin's personal ability. In a manner similar to telekinesis, the user is capable to move object. The difference being that psychokinesis goes a lot deeper than it's counterpart. Relying almost entirely on manipulating objects and moving them with the user's mind rather than with the aid of their body. While Shin most certainly can and does infrequently use his body to move objects, it is far more his mind directing the path anything he focuses on takes. Rather than his physical form doing the work for him. With hard work comes skill, and with it the power to force kinetic energy outwards, unable to be seen by the human eye, this force made of pure kinetic energy from Shin's own reserves can be used to force someone back, knock them out with enough force. And even kill if need be, but, he tries to avoid that. On top of this, thanks to months training and honing this skill, Shin has learnt how to focus his kinetic energy enough around his body to allow for free flight without the need of any other aid. And with a burst of kinetic energy, he can propel himself forward much like a rocket if need be, although he tries to avoid doing this. It just gives him a headache.
- Decelerated Aging - Passive
Due to Shin's total and utter focus on mastering this skill, he has found something very useful to aid him. By manipulating certain cells within his own body, he is able to slow down his own aging process and in turn, his physical appearance as well. It is because of this that he is able to maintain the physical appearance and fitness of a young man in his late twenties, as opposed to the man he was before the bombs fell. This does by no means make him immortal but it can and does grant him extra years of life whereas others may simply have perished. - Psychokinesis (With Limiter) - Masterful Control -
With his limiter active, Shin retains most of the control he had with the limiter released, he can not however fly for an indefinite amount of time as he could before and is limited to half an hour at the most if constantly being used. His powers of movement and kinetic force are also significantly weakened, generally meaning he needs to be closer to his target and any attack done towards a foe. While still able to be lethal when needed, it will take much more energy on Shin's part to retain that lethal quality than before.
Aerokinesis - Offensive/Defensive, Expert Control -
A very simple yet highly effective ability, the power to control the air around him and cause it to submit to his will is an ability Shin has grown to use quite frequently. Able to create soft quiet breezes, up to that of a large swirling air vortex with a mere snap of his fingers or a few gestures with his body. Being that air is all around him within the atmosphere, he requires no external source as his weapon is constantly in there air, thus, he always has a weapon to use, even when all other options are removed from him. Shin is able to do a variety of things with such a power, from free flight, to pushing clouds away, to cutting through steel with a single gesture.
- Aerokinesis (With Limiter) - High Control -
With such incredible and destructive power, it all comes at an extreme cost. Shin's own life. Whenever Shin uses his powers to their fullest extent, it gradually but slowly shortens his lifespan. A few minutes use will remove a month or two. Up to half an hour of constant usage giving every bit of power he's got into a fight, will take away six months. And over an hour will remove an entire year from his remaining lifespan. While stamina can also be an issue, this is generally negated without the limiter in place, as his lifespan takes the place of what would usually be stamina, at a higher cost of course. Naturally, if someone is far stronger than he, he will not be able to maintain such power while defending himself for long periods of time. But he'll damn well try regardless.
- The Limiter -
background
Maybe it would have been better to start from the beginning, but then again, he never has done things the right and 'proper' way. So, no use starting now really is there? Shin never has and never plans to inform anyone about his past. It's personal and it stays that way for a damn good reason. There are too many memories, too many lost chances, too much hurt to remember all of that.
The one thing he does speak of however, not even of his parents, but his grandfather. A kind man he recalls, strict but determined and seemingly fearless. He taught the once boy patience, and to at least try to think sometimes before he jumps into a situation head first and knocks himself out with his own stupidity. But most importantly, he taught him how to fight, how to wield a blade as his grandfather had all those years ago teaching in dojo's for the majority of his lifetime. This is, at the most you will ever get from Shin and perhaps even a genuine smile if he's in a good mood to go along with it. Just be warned, if you ask too many questions. He'll probably just ignore you.
miscellaneous
- He falls asleep far too often really, as a result he's often far more awake during the evening than during the daytime.
- Coffee is wonderful, please don't argue with him on this. You won't win.
- Often found slipping out of English and into his native tongue when tired or bored, or just looking to confuse people. It's fun.
- Shin carries a blade on him at all times, a katana gifted to him by his grandfather before his death. It never leaves his sight and anyone that tries to take it or touch it without permission is likely to get their hand cut off.
